Simon's friend

Today our friend's Erica and her son Stirling came over while Reed was at home school co-op. Stirling and Simon are the same age and have become quick friends over the last couple of months. It has been so much fun seeing Simon develop from parallel play to actually playing with someone. Erica and I have enjoyed eavesdropping on their conversations that seem to be real and about things that they both care about. They even listen to each other seem to value the other's opinion Today the two of them decided they needed to go up to Simon's room and listen to music on the cd playing. So we found them with the music blasting and hanging out in the cave under Reed's bed.

Overheard Conversations

Reed is crying
Simon: "Reed, Reed, what's wrong? How can I fix you?"

while listening to Yesterday in the car
Reed: "Daddy, when did he lose his love? Did he lose it yesterday?"
Tim (while chuckling): "I guess."
Reed: "Well what time?"

Spit up

Poor little Jonah spits up after every meal. Depending on what he eats he can smell very sweet or just gross. Today he smells like a sweet apple. He likes to gnaw on them while his teeth are coming in. Right now he has two bottom teeth and his two upper teeth are starting to break through.

Baby Talk

Today Jonah finally started saying Mama! He's already using Baba, Dada, and Nana indiscriminately. With the new baby babble that has entered our conversations, Tim and I are reminded of all the funny little baby phrases that our other boys used to say. For instance, Reed used to use the word "eeya" to start all of his sentences. So "eeya ball" could mean "I like this ball" or "this is a ball!" Sometimes if it was accompanied by a quizzical look it meant, "Where is my ball?" Since he was an only child while developing his language there was a lot of shorthand in his speech.

Simon, on the other hand, tended to speak in much fuller sentences but had his own way of saying certain words. His plothes (clothes) need washed. Especially if they're his favorite extracise pants. "I'm dirty" could mean he's dirty or that he's thirsty. The other day he told Tim he has ballerina. After further inquiry, it was figured out that he was trying to say diarrhea. Simon never quite figured out how to say the word so he ended up saying "Ballerrhea."

Repurposing this blog

After more than a year of absence, I've decided that since I don't really scrapbook or anything I really should record our family's adventure somewhere. So this is the place for all things Kibbey!
